US-China trade deal still faces hurdles - report

Some major sticking points still remain in trade talks between China and the United States, the Global Times reported on Tuesday citing various executives and officials that attended a business roundtable in Beijing.

The fundamental difference highlighted by Zhang Yansheng, principal researcher of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, is that Washington believes it has not gained enough from China's accession to the World Trade Organization.

"We think still there are very big differences of opinion in the two governments, so we hope that both sides can find some understanding as soon as possible," Timothy Stratford, chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in China told reporters following the meeting.
