US closes mostly lower as Nasdaq plunges 250 pts
Major US stock markets closed mostly lower on Wednesday as the Nasdaq plunged more than 250 points. During the day, it was learned that CNN President and CEO Chris Licht is leaving the network. Warner Bros Discovery shares rose around 8% in reaction to the announcement.
On the other hand, the Energy Information Administration reported that crude oil reserves fell by 500,000 barrels in the week ending June 2. Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal reported that Amazon is considering an advertising-supported tier for Prime Video.
The Dow Jones gained 0.27% at 4:00 pm ET, with Carterpillar rising 3.97%. The Nasdaq 100 fell 254 points or 1.75%, Datadog was leading the flops, decreasing by 8.11%. The S&P 500 declined 0.38%, as Campbell Soup dropped by 8.80%.
The euro was flat against the dollar at 3:58 pm ET, selling for $1.06948.
