US closes mostly lower, tech shares suffer

Wall Street closed mostly lower on Monday after the chip sector was possibly affected by weaker than expected preliminary quarterly results by Nvidia. Meanwhile, the FAA said Boeing 787 Dreamliner could return to service soon in the United States and the New York Fed revealed that inflation expectations are falling across the board. In addition, today's trading session also saw a meme stock rally.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index closed with a 0.11% gain as Disney rose by 2.32%. The Nasdaq 100 decreased 0.37% at the close, pulled down by Nvidia's 6.30% drop. The S&P 500 was down 0.12% at the end of trading with Tyson Foods, its worst performer, falling 8.40%.

The euro was 0.11% higher compared to the dollar, going for 1.0192 at 3:59 pm ET.
