US closes mostly red as services sector softens
Major equities on Wall Street closed mostly lower on Monday after data showed that services sector in the United States expanded at a slower pace and new orders for manufactured nondurable goods declined, adding to concerns about the stability of the country's economic condition.
Investors remained cautious toward the end of the trading session, with worries about the Federal Reserve's next meeting rising. The negative sentiment was also registered among world's largest crypto tokens after SEC filed a lawsuit against Binance.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 200 points or 0.59% as Intel Corp. dropped 4.63%. The Nasdaq 100 added 0.07%, with Fortinet climbing 4.61%. The S&P 500 fell 0.20% with EPAM Systems Inc. plunging 21.73%.
The euro stood flat versus the dollar, to sell at $1.07115 at 3:56 pm ET.
