US construction spending up by 0.5% in August
Construction spending in the United States increased by 0.5% in August compared to July, amounting to $1,983.5 billion, the US Census Bureau said on Monday. Year-on-year, construction spending was up by 7.4%.
Spending on private construction amounted to $1,551.8 billion in August, rising by 0.5% on a monthly basis, with residential construction accounting for $879.9 billion, up 0.6% month-on-month, while nonresidential construction spending came to $671.9 billion, 0.3% higher than in July. Meanwhile, public construction spending in August was at $431.6 billion or 0.6% more than in July.
