US consumer confidence up in November

Consumer confidence in the United States increased in November, with the Consumer Confidence Index going from October's downwardly revised 99.1 to 102.0, the Conference Board stated in its report released on Tuesday.

The Present Situation Index fell from 138.6 observed the previous month to 138.2 in November. Meanwhile, the Expectations Index increased from October's 72.7 to 77.8.

"Consumer confidence increased in November, following three consecutive months of decline," The Conference Board Chief Economist Dana Peterson said. "General improvements were seen across the spectrum of income groups surveyed in November. Nonetheless, write-in responses revealed consumers remain preoccupied with rising prices in general, followed by war/conflicts and higher interest rates."
