US crude inventories down 525K, private data shows

Private data showed on Wednesday that inventories of crude oil in the United States decreased by 525,000 barrels last week. According to the American Petroleum Institute (API), the draw was unexpected and comes after the previous week's jump of 4.26 million barrels.

Official US data will be released on Thursday by the Energy Information Administration.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) and Brent eased gains in post-settlement trade. WTI was up 0.58% at $57.49 per barrel at 4:33 pm, ET while Brent went for $62.70 per barrel as it gained 0.50% at 4:34 pm ET.
