US DoJ asks judge to postpone SBF civil cases

The United States Department of Justice (DoJ) asked on Tuesday the District Court for the Southern District of New York to postpone civil lawsuits against FTX Trading Ltd. co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried until the federal one is concluded.

"Here, all of the conduct that is at issue in the Civil Cases is also at issue in the Criminal Case, meaning that common issues of law and fact exist," the DoJ said in its filing. The civil cases against Bankman-Fried on the collapse of FTX have been brought up by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Bankman-Fried previously pleaded not guilty in the federal case, which accuses him of fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud through FTX.
