US durable goods orders up 7.3% in June

New orders for manufactured durable goods in the United States in June surged 7.3% compared to the month before, bringing the total figure to $206.9 billion, according to a report by the US Census Bureau released on Monday.

Excluding transportation, new orders rose 3.3% month on month, while excluding defense, they climbed 9.2%. Transportation equipment orders soared 20% to stand at $55.3 billion.

Meanwhile, shipments of manufactured durable goods jumped by 14.9% to $227.1 billion in June and unfilled orders for manufactured durable goods fell 1.4% to $1,092.4 billion.
