US, EU release joint statement after meeting

The United States and the European Union released a 36-point joint statement on Tuesday after President Joe Biden's meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel.

In the statement, the US and the EU said they aspire to vaccinate at least two-thirds of the world's population by the end of next year, while also announcing the establishment of a Joint US-EU COVID Manufacturing and Supply Chain Taskforce. Furthermore, Washington and Brussels are "resolved to reinforce cooperation" on reforming the World Health Organization.

Regarding foreign policy, the statement highlighted that the US and the EU "stand united in our principled approach towards Russia and we are ready to respond decisively to its repeating pattern of negative behavior and harmful activities, which Russia must address to prevent the further deterioration of relations including on the list of so-called unfriendly states."
