US extends Canada, Mexico border restrictions

United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Friday it will extend "non-essential" travel restrictions at land borders and ferry crossings with Canada and Mexico.

The measures imposed to limit the spread of the coronavirus and its Delta strain will remain in place through September 21, the DHS specified, adding that it will continue to "ensure the flow of essential trade and travel."

"In coordination with public health and medical experts, DHS continues working closely with its partners across the United States and internationally to determine how to safely and sustainably resume normal travel," the department added.
