US factory orders down 0.4% in December
The volume of new orders for manufactured goods in the United States decreased by 0.4% on a monthly scale to land at $530.7 billion in December, the Census Bureau said in a report published on Thursday.
Shipments increased by $2.1 billion or 0.4% to $528.9 billion during December, according to the report. Unfilled orders rose for the eleventh consecutive month, climbing by 0.5% to reach $1.27 trillion.
Inventories were up $2.2 billion, or 0.3%, to $773 billion, while the inventories-to-shipments ratio was 1.46, unchanged from November.
