US factory orders up 1.1% in March

The volume of new orders for manufactured goods in the United States rose by 1.1% to $512.9 billion in March, the Census Bureau said in a report published on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, shipments increased $10.8 billion or 2.1% to $513.6 billion during March, according to the report. Unfilled orders rose for the third consecutive month, landing at $1.09 trillion.

Inventories increased $5.2 billion or 0.7% to $707.7 billion, while the inventories-to-shipments ratio was 1.38, down from 1.40 in February.
