US factory orders up 1% in October

The volume of new orders for manufactured goods in the United States rose by 1% to $522.1 billion in October, the Census Bureau said in a report published on Friday.

Meanwhile, shipments increased by $10.2 billion or 2% to $523.4 billion during October, according to the report. Unfilled orders rose for the ninth consecutive month, climbing by 0.3% to land at $1.25 trillion.

Inventories were up $6.4 billion or 0.8% to $764.2 billion, while the inventories-to-shipments ratio was 1.46, down from 1.48 in September.
