US GDP grows 2.1% in Q4

The Bureau of Economic Analysis reported on Thursday the United States gross domestic product grew by 2.1% in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared to the prior year, with the figure remaining unchanged from the second estimate.

The price index for gross domestic purchases grew 1.4% in the last quarter of 2019, the same increase as in the third quarter. The PCE price index rose by 1.4%, slightly less than in the previous quarter, while excluding food and energy prices, the index rose 1.3% on a quarterly basis.

Annually, the price index for gross domestic purchases increased by 1.5% in 2019, compared with an increase of 2.4% in the previous year. The PCE price index expanded by 1.4% compared with 2.1% for the same period, while excluding food and energy prices, the index climbed 1.6%.
