US GDP growth at 2.1% in Q3

Gross domestic product (GDP) of the United States grew by 2.1% in the third quarter compared to the same period in the previous year, according to the "second" estimate from the Bureau of Economic Analysis published on Wednesday. The growth accelerated by 0.1 percentage points from the previous quarter.

The price index for gross domestic purchases rose by 1.4% in the third quarter, marking a fall of 0.8 percentage points from the second trimester. The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index climbed 1.5%, representing a quarterly decline of 0.9 percentage points. Excluding food and energy prices, the PCE price index was up 2.1%, showing a 0.2 percentage point increase from the previous three-month period.
