US home prices up 10.6% in September - S&P/Case-Shiller

Home prices in all nine United States census divisions increased 10.6% in September year over year, the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller revealed in its report on Tuesday. The figure marks a decrease from August's reading of 12.9%.

The 10-City Composite came in at 9.7%, which is 2.4 percentage points lower than the August figure. The 20-City Composite gained 10.4% on a yearly basis, down by 2.7 percentage points compared to the previous month's reading. The highest price increases were recorded in Miami, Tampa, and Charlotte.

"Despite considerable regional differences, all 20 cities in our September report reflect these trends of short-term decline and medium-term deceleration. Prices declined in every city in September, with a median change of -1.2%," S&P Managing Director Craig J. Lazzara commented.
