US housing price index up 0.2% in August

The seasonally adjusted monthly index for house prices in the United States was up 0.2% in August compared to the previous month, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) said in an update on Wednesday. In the 12-month period through August, house prices rose 4.6%. The previously reported 0.4% increase for July remains unchanged, the report said.

An uptick in house prices was observed in seven out of 10 divisions, while the Pacific division remained unchanged. The biggest increase, 0.9%, was recorded in the New England division.
