US initial jobless claims down by 10,000 to 210K

Initial jobless claims in the United States for the week ending October 5 fell by 10,000 compared to the previous week's revised figure to reach 210,000, the US Department of Labor reported on Thursday. Meanwhile, the four-week moving average was 213,750, up by 1,000.

The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending September 28 stood at 1.2%, 0.1 percentage point up from the previous week. The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the same week was 1,684,000, an increase of 29,000 compared to the previous week's revised figure. The four-week moving average was 1,665,000, a jump of 2,500 compared to the previous week's revised average.
