US initial jobless claims rise by 37,000 to 412,000

The number of initial jobless claims in the United States for the week ending June 11 increased by 37,000 from the previous week's unrevised level to 412,000, more than analysts' predicted, the US Labor Department revealed on Thursday.

The 4-week moving average for the same period went down by 8,000 to 395,000, its lowest level since March 2020.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending June 5 was at 2.5%, remaining unchanged from the previous seven-day period. Meanwhile, the advance number for the seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the same timespan rose from 3,499,000 to 3,517,000.
