US initial jobless claims up 4,000 to 230,000
The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States climbed by 4,000 to 230,000 in the week ending December 3, the Department of Labor revealed in its report published on Thursday. The 4-week moving average increased by 1,000 from the previous week's revised figure, to come in at 230,000.
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending November 26, increased by 0.1 percentage points to reach 1.2%, with the number for insured unemployment at 1,671,000, up by 62,000 from the previous week. The 4-week moving average was 1,582,250, an increase of 43,250 from the previous week's revised average.
