US initial jobless claims up by 2,000 to 232,000
The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States rose by 2,000 to 232,000 in the week ending May 27, the Department of Labor revealed in its report published on Thursday.
The 4-week moving average declined by 2,500 in comparison to the week before, coming in at 229,500
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending May 20, stood unchanged in comparison to the week before, coming in at 1.2% with the number for insured unemployment at 1,795,000, up by 6,000 from the previous week. The 4-week moving average was 1,797,500, a drop of 1,500 from the previous week's revised average.
