US job cuts down by 7.5% to 18,942 in July

Job cuts in the United States decreased by 7.5% in July in comparison to the previous month to 18,942, its lowest level since June 2000, Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc. revealed in its report published on Thursday.

On an annual level, the figure dropped by 93%.

"In a healthy economy, there's a good amount of churn. Right now, things appear to be stalling. There are over 9.2 million job openings and 9.5 million unemployed. The positions and workers are not connecting," Challenger, Gray & Christmas Senior Vice President Andrew Challenger warned.
