US markets close mostly lower after jobs data

Major US stock markets closed mostly lower on Tuesday after the release of the latest batch of economic data.

Earlier, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that job openings fell by 617,000 in October compared to the previous month, hitting 8.7 million, while business activity in November rose moderately, according to S&P Global.

At the close, the Dow Jones lost 0.22%, with Procter & Gamble sinking 3.48%. The Nasdaq 100 added 0.24%, Apple was leading the gains, improving by 1.91%. The S&P 500 declined 0.06%, as Charter Communications Inc. dropped by 9.11%.

The euro was down by 0.35% against the dollar at 3:58 pm ET, selling for $1.07962.
