US markets close mostly lower as Biden acts upon promises

Equities on Wall Street closed mostly in the red territory on Tuesday as the United States President Joe Biden's administration succeeded to bring into effect pre-election promises on standing strong against national security ''threats'' that Russia, China and Iran allegedly represent. Earlier today, Biden had his first phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, condemning the detainment of opposition leader Navalny and violent arrests during protests.

At the closing bell, the Dow Jones declined 0.07% as American Express fell 4.13%, while Nasdaq 100 grew 0.05% with Fox Corporation gaining 8.85% as news of hiring Larry Kudlow and former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany came to light. The S&P 500 decreased by 0.15% having Enphase Energy drop by 7.59%

The euro was flat compared to the dollar, changing hands for 1.21670 at 4:06 pm ET.
