US markets continue to fall, Dow drops 450 pts
United States stock exchanges extended their losses on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average index falling over 450 points after the release of worse than expected construction and manufacturing data. Traders will turn their focus to more corporate earnings during the week and the next monetary policy moves by the Fed. Worries about central bank action that will be revealed on Wednesday pulled up the yield on the benchmark ten-year United States Treasury note to over 3%, the highest it has been in over three years.
The Dow Jones dropped 1.29% or 426 points, the Nasdaq 100 was 0.85% down and the S&P 500 declined 1.41% at 2:22 pm ET.
The euro decreased by 0.48% against the dollar to go for 1.04956 a minute later.
