US markets extend losses, Dow plunges 250 pts

Major US markets extended losses in Friday's session following the release of new economic data.

Earlier, the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) revealed that the manufacturing activity in the United States declined in June and came in at 53%, the lowest figure since June 2020. Meanwhile, the manufacturing purchasing managers index (PMI) by S&P Global landed at 52.7 in the same month.

The Dow Jones lost 256 points, or 0.83%, at 10:37 am ET, while the Nasdaq 100 fell 0.94%, and the S&P 500 declined 0.76%. The euro was down by 1.06% against the dollar at 10:35 am ET, selling for $1.03726.
