US markets soar as earnings season ramps up
Stock markets in the United States opened markedly higher on Tuesday after a jump in premarket trade amid strong earnings reports. In addition, industrial production gained 0.4% in September compared to the expected 0.1%. In tech news, Salesforce soared over 7% premarket as news broke that activist investor Starboard acquired a stake, while Meta was ordered to sell Giphy by British regulators.
The Dow Jones surged 2.01% or 605 points at 9:30 am ET with Salesforce Inc. increasing 5.69%., The Nasdaq 100 gained 2.70% or 300 points, with Okta soaring 7.25%. The S&P 500 jumped 2.25%, with Carnival Corp. topping the chart at 7.43%.
The euro traded 0.32% higher compared to the dollar and went for 0.98695 at 9:32 am ET.
