US, N. Korea trying to reschedule high-level talks - Seoul

The United States and North Korea are looking to find a new date for a meeting between their top officials, South Korea's Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha (pictured right) said on Friday, after a meeting between Washington's top diplomat Mike Pompeo and Pyongyang aide Kim Yong-chol scheduled for this week fell through.

"The U.S. has said conclusively that the talks have been postponed and will take place at a rescheduled time," the diplomat said, but added that the rescheduling has nothing to do with the momentum of the denuclearization talks and that the US does not seem to attach a great meaning to the delay. Kang added that the government in Seoul plans to hold a major ceremony dedicated to the reconnection of inter-Korean railways and roads before the end of this year.
