US needs more data to move on new virus variant - Fauci

It is still unclear whether the newly-discovered COVID-19 strain will be able to evade the immunological barriers set by vaccines, United States National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Friday.

"As soon as we find more information, we'll make a decision as quickly as we possibly can," he explained when asked if the United States will suspend flights from South Africa during an interview by CNN.

At this moment, there are no indications that the virus strain has come to the United States, Fauci underlined.
