US non-manufacturing activity expands in November - ISM

Economic activity in the non-manufacturing sector in the United States expanded for the 118th consecutive month in November, according to the Institute for Supply Management's business report released on Wednesday. The ISM non-manufacturing index came in at 53.9%, slightly lower than last month's figure of 54.7%.

The new orders index rose by 1.5 percentage points to 57.1% and the business activity/production index fell by 5.4 percentage points month on month to stand at 51.6%. The employment index increased 1.8 percentage points to hit 55.5%, while the inventories index remained the same at 50.5% in September.

The prices index rose by 1.9 percentage points to 58.5%, while the backlog of orders index was also unchanged, standing at 48.5%.
