US nonfarm payrolls up by 261,000 in October
Total nonfarm payroll employment in the United States went up by 261,000 in October, the country's Bureau of Labor Statistics stated in its latest report published on Friday. The figure showed a slight decline to 263,000 payrolls registered in September but was still well above projections.
The unemployment rate advanced by 0.2 percentage points and reached 3.7%. The labor force participation remained somewhat unchanged compared to the previous month, standing at 62.2%. The highest number of new hires of 53,000 was observed in healthcare, followed by professional and technical services with 43,000 added jobs, and manufacturing with 32,000.
Average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls grew by 0.4% or 12 cents compared to September. On an annual basis, the figure gained 4.7%.
