US oil rig count down by 4 to 609
The number of oil rigs in the United States decreased by 4 to 609 in the week ending January 27 compared to the previous week, according to the Baker Hughes weekly rig count released on Friday.
The number of US gas rigs rose by 4 to 160 during the same week bringing the total number of rigs in the country to 771. Compared to the same period a year earlier, the number of oil rigs was up by 114.
In Canada, the number of rigs jumped by 6 to 247. The number of oil rigs in Canada increased by 4 to 157 and the number of gas rigs rose by 2 to 90. Canada's oil rig count was up by 22 compared to the same period in 2022.
