US oil rig count down by eight to 507
The number of oil rigs in the United States stood at 507 in the week ending September 22, decreasing by eight compared to the previous week, according to the Baker Hughes weekly rig count released on Friday. On an annual basis, the number of oil rigs dropped by 95.
The number of US gas rigs declined by three during the same week to reach 118, bringing the total number of rigs in the country to 630. Compared to the same period a year earlier, the number of total rigs was down by 134. Compared to the last week the number of total rigs was down by 11.
In Canada, the number of rigs stood unchanged at 190 on a weekly basis. The number of oil rigs in Canada declined by four to 115, and the number of gas rigs grew by four to 75. Canada's oil rig count was down by 25 from the same period in 2022.
