US opens higher amid earnings reports release

Major stock markets in the United States opened higher on Tuesday amid the release of several earnings reports throughout the day. Johnson&Johnson, 3M, Raytheon, and Lockheed Martin all revealed increases in their revenues in the fourth quarter of 2020. Verizon's income dropped, but still less than expected, while General Electric saw a rise in its earnings per share (EPS). Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) raised its projections for the growth of the global economy in 2021 to 5.5%.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened 0.37% higher as Johnson&Johnson expanded by 4.34%. The Nasdaq went up by 0.14%, with Fox Corporation increasing by 2.24%. The S&P 500 advanced by 0.34%, setting a new record for the opening, as General Electric surged by 8.19%.

The euro rose by 0.13% to the dollar to sell for $1.21577 at 9:27 am ET.
