US opens higher as crisis in banking sector keeps easing
Major stock market indexes in the United States opened higher on Thursday as the latest developments in the banking sectors and the efforts to curb the crisis apparently spilled over the entirety of the week. Meanwhile, the newest report revealed the country's gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 2.6% annually in the fourth quarter of 2022, almost matching the projections.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened 0.53% or 174 points higher as The Walt Disney Company advanced by 1.74%. The Nasdaq 100 rose by 0.72%, with JD.com Inc. soaring by 5.83%. The S&P 500 gained 0.61% as SolarEdge Technologies Inc. jumped by 5.27%.
The euro grew by 0.68% against the dollar at 9:29 am ET to sell for $1.09174.
