US opens in the green following earnings, data

Major equities in the United States opened somewhat flat but in the green on Wednesday after hitting record highs the day before as investors digested data and strong earnings reports from major players Visa, Coca-Cola, GSK, McDonald's and Boeing, but also weaker results from Kraft Heinz and General Motors.

The US oil stockpile increase exceeded analysts' expectations while mortgage applications, the trade deficit and wholesale inventories all increased. Durable goods orders decreased but at a lower-than-expected level.

The Dow Jones opened 0.11%, or 40 points, in the green with Microsoft gaining 3.01%. The Nasdaq 100 increased by 0.29% with Xilinx up 4.43%. The S&P 500 rose 0.13% led by Enphase Energy soaring around 24.85%. The euro added 0.20% against the dollar at 9:29 am ET, selling for 1.16189.
