US opens lower with data in focus
Major stock indexes in the United States opened with losses on Thursday, after the latest reading on initial jobless claims and GDP was released. Data on US pending home sales, as well as earnings reports for Nike and BlackBerry will be published during the day. Investors are also anticipating the latest speech of United States Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell that will take place today.
The Dow Jones was down 0.10% at 9:30 am ET. Minutes after the opening bell it went up 0.12%. The Nasdaq 100 fell 0.44% with Workday sinking 10.59% at 9:31 am ET. The S&P 500 declined 0.21% as CarMax Inc plummeted 10.10% at 9:31 am ET.
The euro was up by 0.39% against the dollar at 9:28 am ET, selling for $1.05438.
