US rallies at open after data, Dow soars over 200 pts

Major stocks on Wall Street opened Thursday's session with gains as the latest reading of the consumer price index proved that inflation is slowing down in the country. In addition, the producer price index dropped by 0.5%, slightly over the market forecasts. The average price of gasoline slipped below $4 for the first time since March.

Meanwhile, the country's Department of Labor revealed a rise in initial jobless claims for the week ending August 6th.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged by over 220 points or 0.65% at the opening bell, and the S&P 500 rose by 0.68%. The Walt Disney Company was indexes' best performer, soaring by 9.13%. The Nasdaq 100 rose by 0.71%, with Pinduoduo Inc. skyrocketing 7.90%. The euro gained 0.40% against the dollar, going for $1.03411 at 9:26 am ET.
