US retail sales tumble 8.7% MoM in March

Seasonally adjusted advance estimates of retail and food services sales for March in the United States decreased 8.7% to $483.1 billion compared to February's revised figure of $529.3 billion, the US Census Bureau said in a report released on Wednesday. On an annual basis, retail and food services were down 6.2%.

Meanwhile, total sales for the first quarter of 2018 rose 1.1% from the same period a year ago.

At the same time, retail trade sales dropped 6.2% in March compared to the month before and 3.8% year-on-year. Food and beverage stores were up 28% on an annual basis, while clothing and clothing accessories stores were surrendered 50.7%.
