US retail sales unchanged in September
Retail and food services sales in the United States remained unchanged in September, compared to the last month's reading, landing at $684 billion, the Census Bureau revealed in its report published on Friday. However, the figure rose by 8.2% in comparison to the corresponding time period last year.
Total sales for the period of three months ending September jumped by 9.2% compared to the same timeframe in 2021. On the monthly basis, retail trade sales fell by 0.1%, meanwhile, the figure jumped by 7.8% year-on-year. Gasoline stations recorded a 20.6% increase compared to the year prior, while food services and drinking were up by 11.6% from last year.
The Census Bureau also revised August's headline figure to $684 billion.
