US retail sales up 0.3% in October

Seasonally adjusted advance estimates of retail and food services sales for October in the United States increased by 0.3% to $553.3 billion compared to the previous month, the US Census Bureau said in a report released on Tuesday. Despite the increase, the figure came in below analysts' expectations.

On an annual basis, retail and food services sales climbed 5.7% from October 2019.

Retail trade sales rose 0.3% in October month on month and jumped 8.5% year-on-year. Nonstore retailers' sales soared 29.1% on an annual basis and building material and garden equipment and supplies dealers climbed 19.5%.
