US, S. Korea, Japan to create N. Korea data system
South Korean Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup (pictured) announced his country, the United States, and Japan agreed to create a joint system that would send warning information regarding North Korea's missile launches sometime this year.
"While actively implementing the agreed-upon measures between the leaders of South Korea, the United States, and Japan, the three countries agreed to elevate security cooperation to another level," Lee told reporters during the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-la Dialogue in Singapore.
The news came after North Korea attempted to send a surveillance satellite into orbit and vowed the next effort will be successful.
