US sanctions Belarus over human rights abuses, aiding Russia
The United States introduced on Friday new sanctions against Belarusian entities and individuals linked to the continuous human rights abuses and facilitating Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The Treasury Department designated two Belarus-owned companies, Belarusian Automobile Plant (BelAZ) and Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), while re-designating the Belarusian Central Election Commission and imposing visa restrictions against 14 individuals.
"The United States will continue to impose costs on the regime and those who support it for their repression of the people of Belarus, and the regime's ongoing support for Russia's unprovoked and illegal war against Ukraine," the State Department concluded.
