US Senate passes $1T bipartisan infrastructure bill

United States Senate passed on Tuesday the bipartisan infrastructure bill, following an intense weekend of negotiations between lawmakers. The final vote tally was 69 to 30 in favor of the bill.

The legislation was announced back in June following a negotiation between ten Senate Democrats and ten Senate Republicans but had to overcome pushback from the GOP side when it came to funding the bill. The bill now passes to the House of Representative, where it will be up to Speaker Pelosi to bring it to the floor.

However, Pelosi has previously stated that she intends to wait for the second piece of infrastructure legislation, the $3.5 trillion deal that the Democrats want to pass through the reconciliation process, before putting either bill on the floor. Senate Democrats have unveiled their plan for the budget, and are expected to proceed swiftly through the reconciliation process in the next few days.
