US Senate passes COVID relief and govt funding plan

After months of gridlock, the United States Senate passed the roughly $2.3 trillion large government spending package which includes $900 billion for coronavirus assistance.

The legislation was forwarded to President Donald Trump with a 91-7 vote and is set to keep the government funded until the end of this fiscal year once inked by the head of state. It contains a seven-day continuing resolution aimed at avoiding a shutdown being that the current temporary stopgap bill is set to run dry at midnight leaving the federal agencies without funding.

The $1.4 trillion measure to fund the government through September 30, along with the pandemic aid attached to it, was already passed by the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives.
