US shares move lower ahead of jobs data, climate summit

Stock indexes in the United States slipped into negative territory in premarket trade on Thursday as a climate summit hosted by US President Joe Biden gets underway. Biden will announce a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50-52% by 2030. Meanwhile, initial jobless claims, consumer confidence and existing home sales reports are expected later in the day.

The Dow Jones lost 0.07% at 8:00 am ET. The Nasdaq 100 declined by 0.22% at 8:01 am ET, while the S&P 500 dropped 0.13% at the same time.

The euro traded 0.09% higher compared to the dollar at 8:02 am ET, selling for 1.20432.
