US stocks trade lower ahead of Powell's speech

Shares in the United States traded lower in the premarket on Tuesday as Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is scheduled to testify in front of the Senate. Reports on home prices and consumer confidence are also expected later in the day. On Monday, the Biden administration's COVID-19 stimulus bill was approved by the House of Representatives Budget Committee, ahead of the full House vote by the end of the week.

The Dow Jones lost just 0.06% at 4:30 am ET. The S&P 500 was down by 0.78% at 4:31 am ET, while the Nasdaq 100 declined by 0.27% at the same time.

The euro traded flat against the dollar and sold for 1.21542 at 4:32 am ET.
