US surgeon general changes masks stance

United States Surgeon General Jerome Adams changed his mind about the efficiency of masks against the coronavirus and said on Sunday that people should wear them after all.

Asked on CBS to comment on his earlier remarks when he told people not to buy masks, Adams replied: "Once upon a time we prescribed cigarettes for asthmatics, and leeches and cocaine and heroin for people as medical treatments, when we learn better we do better." Additionally, he commented that it is now difficult to change people's opinions of masks as many are certain they don't work.

The surgeon general also predicted that if masks are worn in public, the ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases can be turned around.
