US to bolster its presence in Asia via jab distribution - report

The United States plans to tackle the influence China has in the Asia-Pacific by increasing the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines to the region, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday, citing people close to the talks that the White House allegedly held with representatives from Japan, India, and Australia.

Apart from boosting the vaccine deliveries, the Biden administration intends to launch a "range of measures" in order to counter the influence of "China's military and economic aggression" in the region, the report explained.

Earlier this week, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that Washington wants to take a harder stance in regard to its relations with China, while most of the remarks made previously by the White House touched on the possibility of China "out-competing" the US.
